Birmingham Resorts World's latest attraction, iFly Indoor Skydive, provides a thrilling experience for families and friends seeking weekend or summer holiday activities. The indoor skydiving facility allows participants to experience the adrenaline of a real skydive without jumping from an airplane.
First-Time Flyer Experience
Upon arrival at iFly, staff guided first-time flyers through safety procedures. Instructor Richard greeted visitors, explained rules, and ensured all precautions were taken. Participants remove jewellery, store belongings, sign a waiver, and watch a tutorial video before flying.
The experience prioritizes safety, with instructors using four hand signals for communication. Flyers repeat these signals multiple times before entering the wind tunnel to ensure recall during flight.
Who Can Fly?
iFly accommodates a wide range of participants. The weight limit is 18 stone and seven pounds (approximately 259 pounds or 117.5 kilograms), and the minimum age is three years old. Flying requires simple body positioning: keep your head up and legs straight, while the instructor handles the rest.
Pricing and Packages
Two normal flights for one person cost £49.99. For an enhanced experience, two flights including virtual reality (VR) cost £69.99, offering a choice of three different scenes and locations. Party packages are available, such as 10 flights for up to five people at £199.99.
Safety Restrictions
Flying is not permitted for individuals who are pregnant, have dislocated shoulders, are under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs, are wearing a hard cast, are under 18 without signed parental or guardian permission, or have not signed the pre-flight waiver.
Why Try Indoor Skydiving?
According to first-time flyer Amy Gaffney, the experience was amazing. She noted, 'After each flight, I could not stop giggling. It was hilarious, and I left wishing I could do it again with my friends.' Instructor Ranji provided excellent guidance, making the flight enjoyable and stress-free.
Each flight lasts approximately 60 seconds. Participants typically fly in groups, alternating turns to avoid back-to-back dives. The activity suits both children's birthday parties and adult groups looking for a new adventure.
