Jesy Nelson's motherhood documentary nominated for NTA award

Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has received a National Television Award nomination for her documentary series Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, which chronicles her difficult pregnancy and early motherhood journey with her twin daughters, who were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

Emotional nomination announcement

Taking to Instagram, Nelson shared the news with her followers, writing: "I honestly can’t believe this?!! Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix has been shortlisted for an NTA in the Authored Documentary Category."

She added: "This series was so personal to me and my girls and I’m beyond proud of what we created. Thank you for all the love and support you’ve shown us along the way, it means more than you know."

Nelson also included a link in her bio for fans to vote, as the documentary competes against four other celebrity-authored shows in the category.

Campaigning for SMA screening

Over the past 12 months, Nelson has been actively campaigning and raising awareness for SMA, the condition affecting her daughters Ocean and Story. Her efforts recently culminated in a significant victory: mandatory SMA screening for newborns is now required across England.

The pop star opened the doors to her life for two documentaries, capturing her difficult pregnancy and the realities of raising children who require ongoing medical support. The nomination comes as a recognition of both her personal storytelling and her advocacy work.

Previous NTA success

This is not Nelson's first success with the National Television Awards. In 2020, she won an NTA for her earlier documentary Odd One Out, which explored her struggles with body image, mental health, and online bullying during her rise to fame with Little Mix.

Reflecting on the latest nomination, Nelson described feeling "proud" that the recognition was a win for both her and her daughters. She encouraged fans to "keep supporting" them by voting for the documentary.
