A new independent Irish pub in Solihull is promising customers one of the most extensive drink selections in the Midlands. Doyle's, which opened in April on Poplar Road, directly opposite the chain pub O'Neill's, has already established itself as a unique destination for drink enthusiasts.
Exceptional Choice and Customisation
General manager Michael Stackhouse, who brings extensive hospitality experience to the role, emphasised that Doyle's is defined by its flexibility and customer focus. The pub features 30 beer taps, offering a far wider range than typical establishments. Stackhouse stated that patrons are encouraged to request specific drinks, and the team will strive to accommodate those requests.
“What I like about Doyle's is that any guest can request a drink, we have the freedom to do it. If there is stock someone wants in, we can bring that in and improve their experience,” he explained. “We had someone come in who wanted Birmingham Brewing Company and I thought 'why not?'. We had it in the second week and got four casks out of it, feel free to ask.”
Genuine Care and Community
Stackhouse highlighted the rarity of working with owners who genuinely care about the business and its customers. “I'm working with two owners who genuinely care, that's rare in hospitality. We've already got some core regulars who always say hello, one brought in some Irish bacon for me from a butcher's.”
The pub, created by Miles Evans and Joe Doyle, pays homage to Joe's Irish heritage. It offers a variety of stouts beyond the obvious Guinness (£4.95), including Murphy's (£4.65) and Caffrey's (£4.45).
Food and Entertainment
Future plans include an Irish breakfast, but customers can currently enjoy spice bags and Guinness sausages. The venue has a maximum capacity of 650 people across two floors, including a live music stage that hosts fresh and different acts each week.
Affordable Pricing
Doyle's also focuses on competitive pricing. Between noon and 5pm on weekdays, a pint of Carling is available for just £2.70. Stackhouse commented: “Our Carling is as cheap as Wetherspoons because we got a good deal on it. There's no need for some venues to charge a ridiculous amount. Slamming up your prices in hospitality isn't going to help, lowering them is what will bring people in.”
Doyle's is located at 21 Poplar Road, Solihull, B91 3AD.
