Rock Legend Honoured with Posthumous Grammy Nomination
The legacy of the iconic Black Sabbath frontman, Ozzy Osbourne, continues to be celebrated, with a performance from one of his final concerts securing a posthumous nomination for the 2026 Grammy Awards. The rock legend, who passed away in July at the age of 76, is nominated in the Best Rock Performance category.
A Family and Protégé's Tribute
The Osbourne family played a poignant role in the announcement of this year's Grammy nominees. Ozzy's wife, Sharon, and their children, Kelly and Jack, presented the contenders for Best Rock Album and Best Metal Performance, using the moment to honour the late singer. Sharon reflected on his previous Grammy win for Patient Number 9, stating how thrilled he had been.
The nominated track stems from the Back to Beginning concert held shortly before his passing. The performance features a collaboration including his 28-year-old protégé, Yungblud, alongside musicians Nuno Bettencourt, Frank Bello, Adam Wakeman, and II, for their rendition of the song Changes.
Yungblud, who has frequently cited Ozzy as a major influence, delivered a moving tribute to the star at the 2025 VMAs. Following Ozzy's death, he also shared an emotional post on Instagram, writing, "I will never forget you - you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage."
A Lasting Musical Legacy
Ozzy Osbourne, the Birmingham-born music icon, died at his home in Buckinghamshire. His family confirmed the news in a summer statement, saying he was "with his family and surrounded by love" at the time of his passing. It is also expected that the 2026 Grammy ceremony will feature a special In Memoriam tribute to honour his immense contribution to music.
