Scott Reveals Pink Neck Pillow Truth After MAFS Gia Drama

Married At First Sight Australia's Scott McCristal has finally addressed the mystery behind the pink neck pillow that caused an awkward moment with Gia Fleur during their Homestay episode. The pillow, which Gia suspected might belong to an ex, turned out to be a simple travel accessory.

The Truth About the Pink Pillow

In an interview with Nine, Scott explained: "That is genuinely my pink neck pillow. I had to go to a wedding in Thailand with my two best friends and they came up to me and said 'Here, take this'. They had a pink one too because that's all that was in stock at the airport." The explanation came after Gia questioned his loyalty upon discovering the pillow in his wardrobe.

Scott expressed frustration that such a trivial item became a point of contention. "Why was she even questioning me over something like that?" he asked.

Off-Camera Criticism

Scott revealed that Gia's complaints didn't stop when the cameras stopped rolling. "She pointed out a lot more problems when the cameras weren't there," he said. As a carpenter who has built a successful business over a decade, her remarks about his home left him feeling "pretty s---" and "rough."

Struggles During Homestays

Speaking to TV Week, Scott admitted the couple were already in a rocky place before Homestays. "Little things would trigger her," he noted, adding that Gia seemed only happy when being wined and dined. "The only thing that gave the relationship a spark at that time was to take her to dinner, take her out, take her away. In an everyday world, it’s impossible to take someone away every day of the week. We all have a life. We all go to work. It’s very hard to manage someone like herself that wants to be treated with gifts every day of the week – especially if you’re not getting that in return."

Mental Health Toll

The MAFS groom admitted the situation took a serious toll on his mental health. "At this point in the experiment I was a bit of a mess. I wasn’t myself anymore. I couldn’t even talk," he confessed.

Lighthearted Response

Despite the drama, Scott has managed to find humour in the situation. He posted a video on Instagram with David Momoh and former groom Eliot Donovan, all wearing pink neck pillows while going about daily activities like dining out or swimming. The caption read: "For neck support… obviously #mafs." Fans loved it, with one commenting: "Lads who neck pillow together…stay together" and another saying: "Never stop these pink pillow vids too funny, funniest thing to come out of MAFS."
