Organisers of the much-loved Splendour Festival in Wollaton Park have announced that the July 2025 event will be its final edition. A special two-for-one offer has been released, allowing buyers of day tickets to receive another general admission ticket free on like-for-like purchases.
Final Line-Up and Celebrations
The final weekend will take place on July 18 and 19, 2025, with headliners including The Wombats, Primal Scream, The Ks, and Hard Life on Saturday. Sunday features Snow Patrol, Editors, Craig David Presents TS5, and The Flaming Lips. Additional acts include The Lathums, Estelle, Cast, Neville Staple from The Specials, Kingfishr, The Futureheads, The Pigeon Detectives, The Sugarhill Gang, Say She She, Divorce, and ALT BLK ERA.
The festival has been a staple of Nottingham's summer since 2008, attracting tens of thousands of music fans. Organisers hope the city will come together for a grand send-off. George Akins, MD of DHP Family, said: "We're really proud of Splendour. It has truly played an important part in the lives of many people, and is much loved for its family-friendly environment... Thanks to everyone for your loyalty and support over the years, we couldn't have done it without you."
Community Impact and Local Talent
Many attendees first experienced the festival with their parents and now return with their own children, while others have formed lifelong friendships. The event has been a platform for local artists, with hundreds performing alongside national acts. In 2013, Nottingham's Jake Bugg headlined after opening the acoustic Courtyard Stage in 2011. ALT BLK ERA opened in 2022 after winning Future Sound of Nottingham, returning to the Main Stage this year after securing a record deal and winning a MOBO Award for Best Alternative Music Act.
Ticket Offers and Legacy
Since its inception, Splendour has distributed over 150,000 discounted tickets for residents and 30,000 free tickets for children. Festival organisers said: "We've loved bringing Splendour to you since 2008. We know how special it is to this community. We want to let you know upfront that this will be the last one so we can celebrate together in style." The final event will also feature the Bodega New Music Stage, Day Fever clubbing experience, Vicky McClure and Our Dementia Choir, and Future of Nottingham winners the TWO 2'S and Omari Marsalis.
Challenges and Farewell
Akins added: "Like many independent festivals, Splendour has had to navigate a very different landscape in recent years, with the cost of staging events rising sharply... After a lot of careful thought, we feel the right thing to do is to make this year a proper celebration of everything Splendour has meant to Nottingham." Past line-ups have included Madness, Pet Shop Boys, Calvin Harris, Rag N Bone Man, Scissor Sisters, Blondie, Paloma Faith, Manic Street Preachers, Dizzee Rascal, Jess Glynne, Anne-Marie, and Becky Hill.
Councillor Neghat Khan, Leader of Nottingham City Council, said: "We're proud to have helped develop Splendour into a Nottingham institution since its inception in 2008. The festival has showcased an incredible breadth of talent... We hope now that many of you will turn out to say goodbye and make this final festival a fitting celebration of Splendour's legacy in Nottingham." The two-for-one day ticket offer is available on the festival website.
