Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical Starlight Express is set to embark on a world tour, with a stop at Birmingham Hippodrome in summer 2027. The show, which has been seen by over 30 million people globally, will run from Wednesday, August 11 to Saturday, September 11, 2027.
New Production Design
This new production has been redesigned for theatres across the UK and beyond, bringing all the spectacle and high-speed energy of the critically acclaimed London version. The show features beloved songs such as AC/DC, Make Up My Heart, Light At The End Of The Tunnel, and the iconic Starlight Express.
Michael Harrison from Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals expressed excitement about the tour, saying: "We are absolutely thrilled to be launching this major new tour of Starlight Express. Andrew Lloyd Webber's extraordinary score, combined with the show's unique sense of spectacle, exhilaration and heart, continues to captivate audiences across generations."
Creative Team
The new production is directed by Luke Sheppard, with set designs by Tim Hatley, costume designs by Gabriella Slade, lighting by Howard Hudson, sound by Gareth Owen, new orchestrations by Matthew Brind with Andrew Lloyd Webber, and music supervision by Matthew Brind and David Andrew Wilson. Choreography is by Ashley Nottingham, and Arlene Phillips serves as creative dramaturg.
Tour Cities
In addition to Birmingham, the tour will visit Leicester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Sunderland, and Southampton, with more cities to be announced. Casting details are yet to be revealed.
Ticket Information
Tickets for Starlight Express at Birmingham Hippodrome go on sale to Hippodrome Friends from Monday, May 19 at 11am, with general sale starting at 11am on Thursday, May 21. Tickets can be booked via the Birmingham Hippodrome website or by calling 0121 689 3000.
