Sushi Tachi is set to open its first Midlands restaurant in Birmingham's Grand Central shopping centre, taking over the former Fuel juice bar site. The Japanese restaurant chain, which operates locations in Hong Kong and two London branches, has put up signage next door to Sweet Joe's cookie store, just before Link Street.
Perfect Reviews and Competitive Pricing
Both London branches boast perfect five-star Google reviews, with diners celebrating the 'delicious and beautiful sushi' and the 'very good' prices. Sushi Tachi's London menus feature competitive pricing, including a 10-piece sushi combo for £17 and sushi rolls with a drink for £7.99. The chain also has Leeds' Bond Street on its 'coming soon' list.
Opening Amidst Grand Central Closures
The new opening comes after a wave of closures at Grand Central, with Fuel shutting in April alongside other departures including Caffe Concerta, Costa and the Perfume Shop. However, Fuel still operates a branch in the Bullring.
Birmingham's Sushi Boom
The opening is part of a sushi boom hitting Birmingham this year. KIBOU is moving to Temple Row this summer to replace Riva Blu. Maki and Ramen is also preparing to open at King Edward House on New Street. Sticks 'n' Sushi will launch on Chamberlain Square in autumn, joining Sushidog which opened at the Bullring earlier this year and Flavour Lounge in Selly Oak.
