Tamworth celebrity Spudman, also known as Ben Newman, has announced a six-week break from his regular spot in the town to embark on a tour across the UK. The TikTok star shared the news on Tuesday, sparking an enthusiastic reaction from his supporters.
Spudman's Tour Announcement
In a video posted on social media, Spudman said: "So, one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make. We are walking away from Tamworth, walking away from my regular income, my bread and butter, my safety net and just going off and doing pop ups." He added: "But we're going on tour, people. So hopefully by the end of the day we will announce everywhere we're going. We've got six weekends, we've got six events, we've got six different places up and down the country. It's going to be exciting. It's going to be scary and it's going to be like very, very stressful."
Spudman invited his fans to join him on the journey: "You lot are all invited along for the ride, please come out and visit us and when we get back to Tamworth, we're gonna come back to Tamworth with a bang. We're gonna do something amazing that first weekend we get back on our square, we need to do something special, what do you think?"
Fans React to Spudman's Tour
Supportive fans quickly got behind the announcement, with many suggesting locations they would like the food truck to visit. One person joked: "Is New York totally out of the way?" Another suggested: "I think you should come to Lichfield... might be a bit far from your home but I think it'll be worth it." A fan added: "Please come to Newcastle. My 12-year-old son is the fussiest eater ever and always says how much he'd love one of your jacket potatoes."
One commenter noted: "You put Tamworth on the map. No one knew where it was till you made it famous." Another supporter proposed: "You should make Spud-Fest." While another wrote: "Please return to Tamworth as soon as the Square is sorted out again."
A local added: "I look forward to your return (maybe I may see you somewhere while you're on tour) to Tamworth but as there's twenty minutes free parking I won't make the mistake I made last time of having to pay a minimum of two hours parking and got to the Square and you wasn't there. Lesson learnt."
Spudman has promised to announce the tour dates by the end of the day, and fans are eagerly awaiting updates on where he will pop up next.
