Two West Midlands zoos have been named among the UK's best according to visitors on Tripadvisor, outperforming popular attractions in London, Blackpool, and Edinburgh. The rankings, based on thousands of traveller reviews, highlight the region's exceptional wildlife offerings.
Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World Takes Second Place
Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World in Telford, Shropshire, secured the second spot overall with an impressive 4.7 rating from 6,427 reviews. The zoo is home to over 100 animal species, including bobcats, striped skunks, lemurs, raccoons, binturongs, capybaras, arctic wolves, and fallow deer. Additionally, it features 45 animatronic dinosaurs and attractions such as a Land Rover safari and adventure play area.
A spokesperson for Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World expressed delight at being ranked second for the fourth consecutive year. They emphasized the importance of creating a fun, safe, and accessible day out for all ages, and thanked visitors for their continued support and feedback.
Visitor reviews on Tripadvisor were overwhelmingly positive. Sarah described it as a lovely day with unique animals and friendly staff, while Helen praised the knowledgeable staff and recommended the meerkat experience.
West Midlands Safari Park Secures Fourth Place
West Midlands Safari Park in Worcestershire was ranked fourth with a rating of 4.1 from 7,375 reviews. The park is renowned for its four-mile safari drive, where guests can see elephants, lions, rhinos, tigers, giraffes, zebras, and more.
Managing director Joanne Hammick said the team was delighted with the recognition, attributing it to their passion, care, and commitment to creating memorable experiences. She noted that guest feedback plays a vital role in shaping improvements and that the park aims to climb even higher in future rankings.
Tripadvisor reviewers praised the park as an amazing day out. Candice appreciated the low crowds on weekdays and the enjoyable rides, while Michelle called it a brilliant place for all ages, perfect for grandchildren and adults alike.

Twycross Zoo also made the list, ranking 13th. Chester Zoo was named the best zoo in the UK according to Tripadvisor.
