Yungblud at Birmingham's Utilita Arena: A Tempting Night of Crime and Emotion
Yungblud at Utilita Arena: Crime and Emotion

Yungblud made his return to Birmingham for the first time since Ozzy Osbourne's death in 2025, delivering an energy-packed, non-stop show filled with jumps, sweat, and tongues. This was my first time seeing the Doncaster-born rock artist live, but from the opening moments I knew I was in for a perfectly crafted spectacle.

A Setlist of Favorites and New Hits

A quick look at the setlist revealed old favorites such as Fleabag and The Funeral, as well as a good sprinkling of his newer work like Hello, Heaven, Hello, Ghosts, Zombie, and the tour title track Idols. The mix of classic and fresh material kept the crowd engaged throughout the night.

Unwavering Connection with Fans

I was most deeply struck by his unwavering adoration for his fans. I found myself emotional when he invited a long-haired man, who already looked like a rock star, to the stage to play guitar for his song Fleabag. James was selected from the crowd and played the part of rocker so well, he blended in with the other band members and performed to perfection. Yungblud never misses a chance to connect with his fanbase—from crowd surfing to giving out hugs and high fives—he is willing to get down into the crowd to create memories.

Emotional Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne

By far, the Ozzy tribute was the highlight of the night. As the first notes of Changes began, Yungblud said: "You won't mind if I dedicate this next song to a friend of mine in the sky tonight Birmingham! This next song goes out to Mr Ozzy Osbourne!" While getting teary-eyed, Yungblud admitted: "I have been sh****** myself for days to play this in Birmingham tonight. Thank you so much for everything. I will never take this for granted. I love you man. I love Birmingham and I promise I will come back here every year until the day I die."

A Night of Contrasts: Sadness and Playfulness

The sadness and deeper moments were perfectly contrasted by playful, electric bursts of energy. At one point, the star joked that he wouldn't mind being kidnapped by the crowd so he could stay in Birmingham forever, promising "I'll be a very bad boy". For once, I considered committing a crime—that was until the woman next to me (a grandmother there with her granddaughter for her first concert ever) turned to me and told me how hot she thought he was. I laughed and said she should shoot her shot—because at a Yungblud concert, it feels like anything could happen!
