Charnwood Nursery and Pre-school, based in Leicestershire, has been awarded the prestigious title of Central England Nursery of the Year by the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA). The recognition highlights the nursery's excellence in early years education and care, supported by votes from local families and the wider community.
Award Marks 25th Anniversary Milestone
The accolade comes as the nursery prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary later this year. Since opening in 2001, Charnwood has supported generations of children and families across the local area. Beverley Coltman, managing director, expressed her delight: 'We are absolutely delighted to receive this award. It is a testament to the dedication, passion and professionalism of our entire team, who work tirelessly every day to create exceptional experiences for children and families.'
Coltman added: 'What makes this award especially meaningful is that it was supported by votes from our parents and community. We are incredibly grateful for their trust, encouragement and belief in what we do. As we celebrate 25 years in business, this recognition gives us a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the generations of children and families we have been privileged to support and to celebrate the incredible early years professionals who make such a difference to children's lives every day.'
Commitment to Quality and Innovation
The award reflects the nursery's commitment to continuous improvement, professional development, and innovation in early years practice. Charnwood is particularly proud of its highly skilled staff team, strong leadership culture, and unique Forest School provision, which offers children regular opportunities to learn, explore, and build confidence through nature-based experiences.
Shining a Light on the Early Years Sector
While the award celebrates Charnwood's achievements, the team hopes it also highlights the wider Private, Voluntary and Independent (PVI) early years sector. At a time when nurseries face increasing financial and operational pressures, this recognition honors the dedication of early years professionals across the country.
Community Celebration and Upcoming Events
The nursery celebrated the award with children, families, and staff, including a special coffee morning to thank parents for their support. The festivities will continue on August 1 with CharnWoodStock, a family festival marking the nursery's 25th anniversary. Former and current families, children, staff, and friends are invited to join at The Gate Hangs Well, Syston, from noon to 5pm, to celebrate 25 years of supporting children and families across Leicester and Leicestershire.
