DWP Confirms 68 Neurological Conditions Qualifying for £749 PIP Payment
DWP Lists 68 Neurological Conditions for £749 PIP

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed a comprehensive list of 68 neurological conditions that qualify for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), which can provide up to £749 per month. This benefit is designed to help cover the additional long-term costs associated with disabilities or long-term health conditions.

How PIP Assessment Works

PIP operates on a points-based system. Assessments evaluate how your neurological condition impacts your daily life and mobility based on criteria such as safety, reliability, repetition, frequency, and standard of performance. You earn points for each activity depending on your ability and the level of assistance required. Higher points are awarded for greater difficulty. The points from each activity are totaled to determine the rate of payment.

The assessment is divided into two components: daily living and mobility. Each component has a lower and higher rate, determined by the number of points scored. Importantly, even if you can perform a task on some days, you may still qualify for PIP if you need help on more than half the days over a year. For example, if your condition prevents you from washing properly four days a week, that qualifies even if you manage on other days.
