A unique community event designed to fuse public art with mental wellbeing is set to take place in Chelmsford next month. The Concrete Canvas walk offers residents a chance to engage with culture while prioritising their health in a supportive group setting.
Event Details and Route Information
The gentle walk is scheduled for Thursday, 5 February 2026. Participants will gather at the starting point of Marconi Plaza, situated beside the Chelmsford Theatre. From there, the group will embark on an approximately 5-kilometre route through the city centre, designed to showcase the vibrant artwork that adorns the urban landscape.
The walk is intentionally timed to coincide with the national 'Time to Talk' Day, an initiative focused on encouraging open conversations about mental health. To ensure a safe and welcoming atmosphere, the event will be supported by friendly walk leaders, trained health champions, mental health first aiders, and marshals.
Supporting the Local Community
The walk is not only a celebration of art and wellbeing but also a fundraiser for a good cause. Organisers are collecting donations for the Mayor's chosen charity, Chelmsford CVS. A suggested donation of £5 per person is encouraged to support the vital work of this community organisation.
