Jog 28 Challenge: Boost Health & Support Mental Wellbeing This February
Join Jog 28: Free February Fitness Challenge

Residents throughout England are being encouraged to lace up their trainers and embrace a healthier start to the year by participating in Jog 28, an inclusive month-long initiative designed to enhance physical fitness, improve mental wellbeing, and generate crucial support for mental health services.

What is the Jog 28 Challenge?

Running throughout the entire month of February, the Jog 28 challenge invites participants of all ages and abilities to complete 28 miles over the 28 days. This free-to-enter event offers a flexible and accessible approach to staying active, as individuals can choose to jog, walk, or run the distance entirely at their own pace. With the end of January fast approaching, prospective participants are urged to register promptly to secure their place as the challenge commencement draws near.

A Dual Focus on Personal and Charitable Wellbeing

Fiona Halton, Head of Public and High Value Fundraising at the Mental Health Foundation, emphasised the dual benefits of the initiative. "Whether you want to keep up the momentum of a great start to 2026, or like many of us, are getting through the gruelling first weeks of January and are primed to get up and moving; the Mental Health Foundation has got you covered with Jog 28," she stated. "This challenge fundraiser supports not just your physical health and mental wellbeing, but the vital work of the charity."

Halton further explained the core philosophy behind the event: "We are inviting the people in England to join us on Jog 28. This challenge is about turning up for yourselves; by moving, taking in your surroundings and taking care of your physical health, which will in turn boost your mental wellbeing." She highlighted the social aspect, noting that shared activities can significantly benefit mental health. "Jog 28 is a perfect opportunity to step out with a friend and catch up whilst improving your wellbeing. Plus, we know that it’s harder to talk past jogging pace – so keep it steady, and you’ll be able to jog and have a natter!"
