Middleton Boxer Kai Gale Wins Third Pro Fight

Middleton light heavyweight boxer Kai Gale has secured his third professional victory, defeating Manchester-based opponent Bahadur Karami over four rounds at an open-air show in Batley. The 24-year-old fighter, who made his professional debut a year ago at Wakefield Trinity's ground on an exceptionally hot day, is steadily building a loyal fanbase across South Leeds.

Fight Details and Career Progress

The outdoor stadium bout was only the third professional contest of Gale's career. Despite injuries and cancelled shows slowing his progress, he remains ambitious and hopes to fight twice more this year. His long-term goal is to compete for a regional area title by the end of December 2027.

Supporters purchased 50 tickets to travel and watch the Middleton fighter win his latest bout in Batley. Gale expressed his gratitude, stating, "Some boxers never get to compete on an open-air show. I've had three professional fights and two of them in stadiums. I made my debut a year ago at Wakefield Trinity's ground. An exceptionally hot day. This time the temperature was comfortable as the show took place just before the recent heatwave."

Background and Training

Gale, a former Rodillian School pupil, previously served in the Royal Engineers, where he discovered his love for boxing. Being selected for the Army boxing team allowed him to focus on the sport and turn professional. He currently trains at Bodymania gym in Rothwell and runs 10 kilometres there and back from his home.

A Bible verse printed on his shorts reminds him to be strong and courageous. He is currently sponsored by a local business and is seeking additional support as his career progresses. Gale added, "I'm established now in the paid ranks and ambitious. I'd hoped to have had maybe a couple more bouts by now but there's lots to deal with. I got injured. Potential opponents get injured. Shows get cancelled. It's important to take opportunities as they present themselves. My aim is two further bouts later this year and an area title possibly by the end of 2027."

Future Aspirations

Reflecting on his journey, Gale said, "Being selected for the Army boxing team meant I could give most of my time to the sport. I'd done some training as a teenager, but it was only as a soldier I decided boxing was my vocation. I love being able to say I'm a professional boxer. The best a man can be."
