Emirates has announced the resumption of 45 repatriation flights from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, including a key service to Birmingham. This move comes after significant disruptions to air travel in and out of the UAE in recent days, caused by the ongoing war in the Middle East between the US and Iran.
Travel Advisory for Passengers
British nationals and holidaymakers have expressed distress over being caught in the turmoil in the Gulf region. In response, Emirates and other airlines are implementing limited operations. Travelers are strongly advised not to proceed to Dubai International Airport unless they have been directly contacted by their airline with a confirmed departure time. This precaution aims to manage crowds and ensure safety amid the volatile situation.
Airline Operations and Cancellations
Emirates has cancelled all flights to and from Dubai until 7.59pm GMT on Wednesday, March 4, with some repatriation flights to the UK scheduled before that time. Meanwhile, flydubai, another airline based at Dubai International Airport, has partially resumed operations from Terminals 2 and 3. Passengers affected by cancellations have options to rebook their flights for free or request a refund.
Refund and Rebooking Policies
For those booked on flights scheduled to depart up to and including Tuesday, March 10, Emirates is offering free refunds upon request. Alternatively, passengers can rebook another flight to the same destination for travel on or before Friday, March 20 by contacting Emirates directly. This flexibility is designed to assist travelers stranded by the conflict.
