Jet2 has confirmed a hold baggage rule after passengers were told to bring separate cases. The airline, which flies from Birmingham Airport (BHX), has spoken out after concerned passengers and holidaymakers reached out via X, formerly Twitter.
Passenger Query
One passenger explained they had two 22kg luggage items and had been told on a previous holiday with Jet2 that they were entitled to "an extra 10kg for the baby." They asked the airline, which competes with Ryanair, Easyjet, TUI, and others, whether the extra 10kg can be added to one of the 22kg cases, bringing the allowance to 32kg. They asked: "On the way out with you we were told it's fine to have a 32kg case (22kg + the 10kg). On the way back we were told the 10kg should be a separate small checked case. Please can you clarify which it is and what the rules are because on our last holiday with you we were told different things."
Jet2's Response
Jet2 confirmed: "The additional 10kg is applied to one adult's baggage, allowing for a total of one bag at 32kg and one bag at 22kg." Along with an extra 10kg allowance for infants, you can bring up to two items per child or infant free of charge. These can include either a collapsible pushchair, pram or buggy, a car seat or booster seat or a baby carrier, as well as a travel cot.
Official Policy
Jet2 says on its website: "Each item must weigh no more than 32kg, and any extra items (or weight beyond your allowance) will be charged as standard excess baggage." It adds: "Don’t forget, you can also keep your pushchair with you right up until you reach the plane steps or airbridge before boarding." For hand luggage, Jet2 notes: "On busy flights, we may need to ask you to put your 10kg hand luggage in the hold. To keep yours nearby and guarantee easy access to everything you need, add Guaranteed Cabin Luggage in Manage My Booking now."
