Several roadworks are starting in Birmingham this weekend, affecting drivers and bus passengers. From bridge closures to major bus diversions due to crane removal in the city centre, travellers are advised to plan ahead.

Full List of Roadworks Starting This Weekend

Highgate Road, Balsall Heath

Highgate Road will be closed between Ladypool Road and Moseley Road for bridge-related works. The closure runs from Saturday 9 May at 10am to 6am. Bus services 8C and 8A will be diverted. The 8C towards Ladywood will go via Walford Road, Stratford Road, Highgate Middleway, and Belgrave Middleway. The 8A towards Small Heath will follow Belgrave Middleway, Highgate Middleway, Stratford Road, and Walford Road.

St Vincent Street / Cambridge Street, City Centre

These streets will be closed from 10.15pm to 11.15pm on Saturday 9 May due to expected large crowds leaving the Tame Impala gig at the Utilita Arena. Bus service 126 towards Dudley will be diverted via Great Charles Street, Lyons Queensway, and Broad Street. The 126 towards Birmingham will follow Broad Street, Lyons Queensway, and Great Charles Street.

Park Street at Moat Lane Gyratory

Park Street will be closed from Sunday 10 May at 12.10am to Monday 11 May at 6am for removal of construction cranes at the Saliha Building works. Several bus services (NXWM 2, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 6, 17, 17a, 50, 60, 97, 97a, X1, X2, and Diamond 50a) will be diverted via Moor Street Queensway, Smallbrook Queensway, Hill Street, Station Street, Dudley Street, Pershore Street, Barford Street, Bradford Street, Mill Street, and Digbeth. Specific routes may vary.

Saltley Viaduct

The 183-metre viaduct on the B4114 will close to vehicles and pedestrians from Sunday 10 May for up to 18 months. It is being replaced to make room for HS2 trains. Bus services 8A, 8C, 14, 94, and 95 will be diverted. The 8C towards Aston will divert from Adderley Road to Washwood Heath Road, Aston Church Road, and Heartlands Parkway. The 8A will follow the reverse. The 14 towards Birmingham will divert from Alum Rock Road to Adderley Road and Duddeston Mill Road. The 94 and 95 towards Birmingham will divert via Aston Church Road and Heartlands Parkway. Customers for Saltley Gate should use services 8A and 8C at Washwood Heath Road or Nechells Parkway.
