A bridge collapse in Bedworth has led to significant train service cancellations and delays across the Midlands. National Rail has warned passengers to expect major disruption until the end of the day following the incident.
Bridge Collapse Details
Part of Marston Lane bridge, also known as Marston Junction Bridge, collapsed earlier this afternoon (June 11). The bridge spans the Coventry Canal in Bedworth. Network Rail has deployed teams to assess the damage and work on keeping passengers moving. Emergency services are also at the scene.
Impact on Rail Services
National Rail reported major disruption between Nuneaton and Rugby. Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or diverted via Birmingham. Services are expected to be disrupted until the end of the day.
Alternative Travel Arrangements
London Northwestern Railway customers can use a rail replacement service operating between Stafford and Rugby until around 9pm. Passengers can also use their tickets on Avanti West Coast services between Crewe and London Euston via Birmingham New Street at no extra cost. Avanti West Coast customers whose trains are cancelled can travel on one of the two services immediately before or after their booked train.
