An inspirational charity walk is set to take place in Beddau this Saturday to raise vital funds and awareness for the fight against brain tumours. Dozens of local people will lace up their walking boots at sunrise on May 30, setting off from Beddau Rugby Football Club at 6.30am.
The incredible 30km challenge has been organised by local resident Lewis Goodfield, who was diagnosed with a Grade 2 Glioma brain tumour in March 2025. Despite enduring brain surgery, ongoing treatments, and repeated hospital admissions, Lewis has chosen to turn his personal fight into a positive mission to help others.
The community has completely rallied behind his cause, with more than 50 walkers now set to take part in the event wearing vibrant red shirts. Supporters are travelling from all across the area to walk beside Lewis, while local businesses have stepped up with generous donations.
The event has already raised an astonishing £4,300 from more than 200 supporters, completely smashing the original fundraising target. All the funds raised from the walk will go directly to The Brain Tumour Charity to support their life-changing research and support work.
Organisers say the day is about hope, resilience, and community spirit, while proving to anyone fighting a brain tumour that they are never alone. The organisers said: “Seeing local people come together in red shirts at sunrise to walk beside him means more than words can explain.”
