A father and his 11-year-old son from Kingswinford have raised nearly £450 for Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity after taking on a 104ft abseil at Birmingham Airport.
Community campaigner Shaz Saleem and his son Shazad Haidar-Ali joined hundreds of participants for the fundraising challenge, which has raised almost £15,000 overall. The event brought together people of different ages to support the charity, which helps children receiving treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital and their families.
A Memorable Challenge for Father and Son
Mr Saleem said completing the challenge alongside his son made the experience particularly memorable. He said: "What an incredible experience. I'm absolutely delighted that we've raised close to £450 for Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity.
"Taking on the 104ft abseil was a fantastic challenge, but being able to share it with my 11-year-old son made it even more special. I couldn't be prouder of him for taking it on with such enthusiasm and courage."
Community Spirit Praised
The event was supported by organisers and volunteers who helped ensure participants could complete the challenge safely. Mr Saleem praised the community spirit shown throughout the day and thanked everyone who contributed to the fundraising.
He said: "It was wonderful to see so many people of all ages coming together for such a worthwhile cause. The atmosphere was amazing and the dedication of everyone involved really showed what can be achieved when a community comes together."
Mr Saleem added: "Every donation counts, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us."
