Nottingham Trams Raise £17,000+ for Local Charities

Nottingham Tram Network's 2025 Charity Fundraising Exceeds £17,000

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) has announced that its tram network raised more than £17,000 for local charities throughout 2025. The organisation selected Our Dementia Choir as its Charity of the Year, implementing group-wide fundraising initiatives that significantly contributed to this impressive total.

Major Fundraising Events and Challenges

A standout achievement was the Three Peaks Challenge, where staff from every department climbed the highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales. This arduous effort raised over £2,000 specifically to support Our Dementia Choir and its members.

The popular 'Walk The Network' initiative returned for its third consecutive year, generating £1,000 for the charity through a 12-mile sponsored walk along the city's tram tracks. Additional staff-led activities contributed a further £1,500 to the fundraising pool.

Our Dementia Choir: A Transformative Local Charity

Founded in 2018 by local actress Vicky McClure, Our Dementia Choir aims to highlight the transformative power of music in the lives of those living with dementia. Recently, the charity received its own named tram after McClure donated her named tram in the choir's honour, helping to raise awareness of its impact across Nottingham.

Broad Community Support and Additional Donations

NET's charitable efforts extended beyond the primary charity partnership. The organisation made group-wide donations including:

  • £1,000 to the Strelley Family Fun Day
  • £1,000 to Switch Up
  • Over £500 for Breast Cancer Now

The team also donated £1,000 worth of food to Aspley Food Bank, while individual employee fundraising efforts raised more than £2,500 through personal challenges, donations, and events supporting various causes including Framework, Cancer Research, and Our Military Veterans.

Official Statement from NET

Rebecca Horne from NET commented: "Our fundraising efforts in 2025 reached unprecedented heights, beating that of previous years. We're incredibly proud of the generosity shown by each and every staff member.

"Just as the trams are so important to the community of Nottingham, so are its local charities that operate to support those that need it most. As we embark on a new year of fundraising, we look forward to helping even more worthy causes from across the county."

The comprehensive 2025 fundraising campaign demonstrates NET's strong commitment to supporting Nottingham's charitable sector and making a positive impact on local residents' lives.
