A Santa collecting for charity in a North Wales supermarket received a delightful surprise when four eager, four-legged helpers dressed in their festive best came to lend a paw.
Unexpected Helpers Bring Festive Cheer
Rotarian Santa John Dicks was conducting his annual festive collection for the Rotary Club of Rhyl at the Asda supermarket when the unexpected visit occurred. He was joined by four spirited Pomeranians – named Dolly, Noah, Alaska, and Jack – who were keen to meet Saint Nick and share in the Christmas spirit.
The dogs, sporting their finest seasonal coats, created a heart-warming scene for shoppers and provided a boost to the charity drive. Their owner, Wendy Normanton, who was visiting from Leigh in Manchester, explained their enthusiasm. "Dolly, Noah, Alaska and Jack were all anxious to wear their best festive coats to come and greet Santa and see the Rotary sleigh," she said.
A Vital Community Fundraising Effort
John Dicks, clearly delighted with his new helpers, highlighted the importance of the annual collection. "Each year the Rotary Club of Rhyl raises many thousands of pounds for worthy causes," he commented. He confirmed that this year's proceeds will be donated to charities including the NSPCC and St Kentigerns.
He also expressed gratitude to the supermarkets that host the festive appeals, stating, "We are very grateful to Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons who have allowed us to conduct our collections at their supermarkets and we are hoping for a bumper response this year."
Continuing the Christmas Collection
The festive fundraising drive is set to continue. The Rotary Club, with Santa's sleigh, will be visiting Morrisons Supermarket in Rhyl on Saturday, December 20 and 21, offering more opportunities for the community to donate and get into the Christmas spirit.
Wendy Normanton praised the local efforts, adding, "I know the local Rhyl Rotary club does a great deal for both local and national charities and it has been a pleasure to meet him and his elves and to enjoy the festive Christmas music." The visit from the playful 'pomereindeers' served as a perfect example of how community spirit and festive fun can combine to support vital charitable work.
