Police have uncovered a massive hoard of suspected stolen power tools, valued at approximately £40,000, during a raid on a property in the Black Country. The discovery followed a tip-off about a suspicious vehicle and has led to arrests and a public appeal for victims.
Suspicious Vehicle Leads to Major Find
Officers from West Midlands Police were alerted to a suspicious vehicle parked on Crankhall Lane in Wednesbury on Thursday, 27 November. This prompted a search of an address on the same street, where they made a significant discovery.
Inside the property, teams found a large collection of power tools from well-known brands including Bosch, Dewalt, Erbauer, and Magnusson. The estimated total value of the haul is a substantial £40,000.
Charges Laid and Investigation Continues
Following the warrant, a 28-year-old man was charged with two counts of handling stolen goods, possession of cannabis, and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Walsall Magistrates’ Court on 17 March.
A second man, aged 27, was also arrested on suspicion of theft from a vehicle. He has been released on bail with conditions as police enquiries continue.
Police Appeal to Potential Victims
Investigators believe the recovered tools were likely stolen from the Sandwell and Walsall areas. They are now urging anyone in the West Midlands, particularly in those boroughs, who has been a victim of tool theft to come forward.
In an official statement, a police spokesperson said: “Have you been the victim of tool theft in the West Midlands, specifically in Sandwell or Walsall? We’re appealing to anyone who may have had power tools stolen in these areas.”
Victims or anyone with information are asked to contact West Midlands Police by calling 101 or using the Live Chat on their website. They should quote crime reference number 20/472320/25.
Providing details such as serial numbers or unique markings on missing tools could be crucial in returning the seized items to their rightful owners.
