Armed police swarmed a Birmingham street following reports of a man carrying a gun, prompting a large-scale search operation. Officers were dispatched to Mount Street in Nechells, located approximately half a mile southwest of the Star City entertainment complex, just before 8:30 PM on Monday, July 6.
Police Response and Road Closures
The road, which features a mix of residential and industrial properties, was cordoned off at its junction with Mounts Way. Marked and unmarked police vehicles were observed in the vicinity. Mount Street was also sealed off at the junction with Trevor Street as officers conducted a thorough search of the area.
Despite the extensive search, no evidence of a gunman or firearms activity was discovered. West Midlands Police stated they are keeping an open mind about the incident as investigations continue.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Officers responded to a report of a man with a gun in Mount Street, Birmingham shortly before 8.30pm. Following enquiries at the scene, no evidence of shots being fired was found and we are continuing to investigate what happened.”
The police have appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information to contact them on 101, quoting log 5830 of July 6.
