A man described as a 'dangerous' child sex offender has been sentenced to nine years in prison for a series of historic offences committed in the 1970s and 1980s.
Heinous Crimes Uncovered Decades Later
Andrew Davies, 58, of Penkhull, Staffordshire, was found guilty of ten sexual offences following a trial at Stafford Crown Court. The court heard how survivors bravely came forward to police in 2023 to report the abuse they had suffered.
Davies was initially questioned by Staffordshire Police in July 2023 but answered 'no comment' to all questions. Despite this, the evidence presented by the prosecution led to his conviction. The charges included:
- One count of rape of a female under 16.
- Four counts of sexual assault of a girl.
- One count of inciting a girl to commit an act of gross indecency.
Davies also pleaded guilty to two further counts of inciting a girl to commit an act of gross indecency and two additional counts of sexual assault of a girl.
Sentencing and Lifetime Registration
The sentencing took place at Stafford Crown Court on Thursday, December 18, 2025. In addition to the nine-year custodial sentence, the judge ordered that Davies be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
Detective Constable Lily Rowley, from the force's dedicated rape and serious sexual offences unit, commended the survivors for their courage. "Davies is a dangerous offender who has rightfully been put behind bars for his heinous crimes," she stated.
A Message to Survivors
DC Rowley emphasised the force's commitment to pursuing justice, no matter how much time has passed. "I’d like this to serve as a message to any survivors out there that we are determined to deliver justice for you and to act robustly against those responsible," she said.
Staffordshire Police has urged anyone else who may have been a victim of similar crimes and feels ready to talk to come forward. Survivors can call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, people can use the live chat facility on the Staffordshire Police website.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts by police forces across the UK to investigate and prosecute historic sexual abuse, providing long-awaited justice for survivors who find the strength to report their experiences.
