Stafford Businessman Recounts Terrifying 25-Second Showroom Assault
Stafford Businessman Attacked in 25-Second Showroom Assault

A Stafford businessman has spoken out about the terrifying moment he was violently assaulted at his workplace, leaving him with significant injuries and questioning his safety.

Violent Attack at Car Showroom

Darren Street, aged 51, was working at Spear Cars in Stafford on January 3, 2026, when he experienced what he describes as a sudden and brutal attack. The incident, captured on CCTV, lasted approximately 25 seconds but has had lasting physical and psychological effects.

Details of the Assault

Street recalls feeling an almighty blow to the back of his head before being subjected to what felt like around twenty punches. "I was petrified and in pain," he stated. "It took me a while just to even register what was happening. I didn't know if something had fallen on me or what."

The attack left him with:

  • Two black eyes
  • A bloodied and flattened nose
  • A damaged jaw
  • An injured and bleeding head

"It knocked me for six," Street added, describing the physical impact of the assault.

Emergency Response and Aftermath

Emergency services were called immediately, with paramedics and police arriving promptly at the scene. Street was taken to the accident and emergency department at Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment.

While waiting for medical attention, he received a call from Staffordshire Police that surprised him. "The police asked if I'd be happy for the matter to be resolved by giving my attacker a community resolution order," Street revealed. "I thought they were joking. I told them 'no'. I couldn't believe they'd asked me that."

Ongoing Safety Concerns

The businessman expressed serious concerns about his future safety, particularly as the alleged attacker had entered the showroom with another man to collect tools. "There isn't anything to stop him from rocking up at my garage again," Street said. "I'm a 51-year-old bloke. It only takes one punch to leave you with life-changing injuries or even kill you."

Staffordshire Police have been approached for comment regarding their handling of the case and the suggestion of a community resolution order for such a violent assault.

The incident highlights broader concerns about workplace safety and the appropriate police response to violent crimes in business environments. Street's experience serves as a stark reminder of how quickly normal working conditions can turn dangerous, with lasting consequences for victims.
