This January, Dobbies Garden Centres is launching a brand-new event designed to combine creativity with culinary indulgence. The inaugural Crafternoon Tea Club will be held at the retailer's Atherstone store, offering a perfect post-Christmas escape.
What to Expect at the Creative Workshop
The event is scheduled for Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 January. It promises a 90-minute, beginner-friendly session focused on relaxation and mindfulness through craft. Attendees will receive a complete punch needle kit featuring a wildlife design, providing all the materials needed to start a new hobby or refine existing skills in a cosy, supportive environment.
A Delicious Afternoon Tea Selection
No craft session would be complete without refreshments. Participants will be treated to a classic three-tier afternoon tea. The savoury tier includes a selection of finger sandwiches, such as soft cheese and cucumber, ham with rocket and red onion chutney, prawn, and egg and watercress.
The second tier boasts Dobbies' famous plain and fruit scones, served with Cornish clotted cream and jam. The sweet top tier features a mini Victoria sponge, lemon mousse, meringue kisses, and coconut and cherry macaroons. A pot of tea or coffee with unlimited refills is also included.
Optional Upgrades and Event Philosophy
For those seeking extra indulgence, several upgrades are available. A savoury sharing plate with items like chicken terrine and smoked salmon on brioche toast can be added for £8.50. Hot drinks can be upgraded to a speciality coffee or indulgent hot chocolate for an extra £0.50, or adults can opt for a 200ml bottle of Prosecco for £6.50.
Ayesha Nickson, Events Programme Manager at Dobbies, explained the thinking behind the club: "This brand-new Crafternoon Tea Club at our Atherstone store is aimed at bringing people together to slow down and get creative. We've designed the workshop to be a relaxing, beginner-friendly experience and it's a great way to spend time with friends and family members."
