Dami Hope Breaks Silence on Indiyah Polack Cheating Scandal
Love Island star Dami Hope has finally spoken out about the cheating scandal that led to his split from fellow contestant Indiyah Polack. In an exclusive interview on the We Need To Talk podcast with host Paul C Brunson, Hope detailed the exact timeline of events, revealing when he first learned of the infidelity and why he chose to remain quiet for so long.
The Cheating Incident and Initial Discovery
Dami Hope confirmed that Indiyah Polack cheated on him with her Inside co-star Marlon Garcia. The incident occurred on December 3rd, 2026, when the pair were spotted kissing. Hope revealed that he discovered the betrayal just two days later, on December 5th, after Polack admitted to it following his questioning about her whereabouts.
"I found out when she came forward to admit it," Hope explained. "Her confession came after I questioned how she had gone out the night of December 3rd and didn't return home until 1pm the next day." Upon learning the truth, Hope immediately ended the relationship, telling Polack he could no longer continue.
Maintaining Appearances and Private Processing
Despite the breakup, Hope and Polack continued living together, and Hope chose to keep their split private to avoid public scrutiny. He attended her birthday celebration shortly after the incident, insisting this was for public appearances rather than reconciliation.
"I was trying to keep us away from the embarrassment of it online," Hope stated. "That was why I still showed up at her birthday soon after. I did that for public appearances and not because we were still together."
The Video Release and Public Revelation
The cheating scandal became public knowledge when a video of the kiss between Polack and Garcia began circulating online. Hope revealed he watched the video in real time with friends, describing the moment as particularly painful.
"I have to listen to everybody's phone ping at the same time," he recalled. "It was like all of my friends, all on their phones getting this video. It comes up on TikTok. And I have to look at everyone - and myself - watch this video... and everyone's in shock."
Hope emphasized that seeing the video was more devastating than hearing about the incident, calling it "embarrassing and disrespectful." He noted that Polack had actually downplayed what happened in her initial confession, forcing him to process the betrayal a second time.
Setting the Record Straight on Rumors
Hope addressed rumors suggesting the couple had split before the cheating incident, clarifying that they were definitely together when it occurred. The video only emerged later, after they had already ended their relationship.
Polack had previously addressed the scandal on her Instagram story, writing: "I am aware of the video that has been shared online. I made a mistake and take full responsibility for my actions. I understand the hurt this has caused. I won't be commenting further."
Soft Launching the Split and Moving Forward
Hope eventually hinted at their separation by sharing a New Year's Eve photo dump that conspicuously excluded Polack. This sparked speculation about their relationship status, which was confirmed days later when the video was released.
Despite the hurt, Hope expressed continued care for his former partner. "I loved her, I cared for her, I'd been with her for so long, there's a level of care I'll always have," he said. "So at the end of the day, I'm not trying to bash her, I don't want anything bad to happen to her... I want her to still be good."
Hope explained his prolonged silence by stating he didn't want "something beautiful" to end negatively. The couple, who finished third on the eighth series of Love Island, had been together for three years before the cheating scandal led to their breakup in December 2026.
