Harry Styles Opts for Residency Tours Over World Tours

Harry Styles Explains Residency Tour Decision Over World Tour

Harry Styles has openly discussed why he is choosing residency tours instead of a conventional world tour for his upcoming album Together, Together. This marks a significant shift in his touring strategy after a three-year break from the music scene.

Reasons Behind the Residency Choice

In a detailed interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Styles revealed that his management team played a crucial role in this decision. He emphasized that residency tours allow for better show quality, as they enable the construction of more elaborate stage setups that do not require nightly travel.

Styles stated, "I think it makes the show better. I think you can build something that doesn’t have to travel every night. I think the show itself is better." He added that this format helps him maintain a healthier work-life balance, saying, "I think there's something in this that allows me to like stay in my life while I'm doing it. And therefore allows me to take care of myself better, which I think makes me better at doing the thing."

Tour Details and Background

Starting in May, Styles will perform residencies in six major global cities, including iconic venues such as London's Wembley Stadium and New York's Madison Square Garden. This approach contrasts sharply with his previous tour, Love On Tour, which spanned an impressive 22 months and included 169 shows worldwide, along with two residencies.

Reflecting on world touring, Styles admitted he is not completely ruling it out for the future. He explained, "I'm not saying I’ll never travel again," but expressed interest in exploring alternative touring methods that differ from the intense, back-to-back schedule of traditional world tours.

Benefits for Band Members

Styles also highlighted how the residency tour format benefits his band members, many of whom now have families or other responsibilities at home. He noted, "People in my band have families now and kids, and some aspects of that too. It’s really important to me that they’re on the road, that I would love to have them. I don’t want to make it near impossible for them to be able to come do that with me." This consideration underscores the collaborative and supportive dynamic within his team.

This decision comes as Styles prepares to release his new album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, following the success of one of the highest-grossing tours in history. By opting for residencies, he aims to enhance both the concert experience and the well-being of everyone involved.
