Masked Singer Final Approaches with Behind-the-Scenes Revelations
The highly anticipated finale of ITV's The Masked Singer airs tonight, February 14, with host Joel Dommett presiding over the climactic unmasking of the three remaining celebrities. After weeks of intense speculation and confusion among viewers, contestants Toastie, Conkers, and Moth will deliver their final performances in a bid to be crowned champion of the latest series.
Song Selection Requires Producer Clearance
In a surprising revelation, former contestant Marvin Humes has disclosed that he had to obtain special clearance from show producers for his planned final song. The JLS star and radio host, who was unmasked as Can of Worms last weekend just missing the final, had selected Tinie Tempah's hit track Pass Out for what would have been his last performance.
"I had to get clearance on Tinie Tempah's Pass Out," Marvin explained during an Instagram live session with his wife Rochelle. The necessity for approval stemmed from explicit language contained within the song's lyrics, which include multiple instances of strong profanity that would have required editing for broadcast.
Explicit Lyrics Prompt Production Intervention
The album version of Pass Out contains several lines with explicit content that would have presented challenges for a family-oriented television program. Specific lyrics that raised concerns include:
- "I'm f****** crazy with the kicks, call me Jean Claude"
- "Where's my f******* clap, where's my encore"
- "I've been a cheeky b******, man" appearing near the song's conclusion
This behind-the-scenes detail highlights the careful consideration producers must give to musical selections on the popular entertainment program, balancing artistic choices with broadcast standards.
Finalist Identities Teased as Major Surprise
Marvin Humes further stirred excitement by teasing that viewers will be shocked by the identity of contestant Conkers. "Wait until you find out who Conkers is - it's going to be special," he promised, suggesting a particularly surprising revelation awaits during tonight's finale.
Remarkably, despite producers implementing strict measures to prevent contestants from interacting or discovering each other's identities, Marvin revealed he has successfully identified all three finalists. "Yes I do. I'm not supposed to know because tonight when I left they would have already left the studio," he confessed.
Contestant Isolation Measures Circumvented
The show employs rigorous protocols to maintain secrecy, with contestants kept completely separate throughout the competition. "You literally never see anybody," Marvin explained regarding the isolation measures. "You are whisked straight out from your caravan/winnebago to the stage, you do your performance...go straight back and get in your car."
Despite these precautions, Marvin managed to identify his fellow competitors through vocal recognition. "It's only because I clocked the voices and I had them confirmed..." he revealed, adding specifically about one contestant: "I guessed Moth's voice from the first week, that first pop group number together. Just because I know that voice."
As the final approaches, these revelations add an extra layer of intrigue to an already suspenseful competition, with audiences eagerly awaiting both the musical performances and the dramatic unmaskings that will conclude this season of The Masked Singer.
