DWP Lists 12 Conditions Qualifying for £187 Weekly PIP Payments
DWP Lists 12 Conditions for £187 Weekly PIP Payments

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed the full list of 12 medical conditions that are most likely to qualify for the maximum Personal Independence Payment (PIP) award length of five years. Households with these conditions can claim financial support worth up to £187 per week.

What is PIP?

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a disability benefit for individuals with long-term physical or mental health conditions, disabilities, or learning difficulties. It helps cover additional costs of daily living tasks and mobility needs, particularly for those of State Pension age who wish to maintain independence at home.

Award Lengths and Payment Rates

The shortest PIP award is nine months, while the longest can be an ongoing award with a light-touch review at 10 years. PIP is not a flat amount; it is split into two components:

  • Daily living component: Standard rate £76.55 per week, enhanced rate £114.80 per week.
  • Mobility component: Standard rate £30.20 per week, enhanced rate £80.10 per week.

By qualifying for the enhanced daily living rate and a portion of the mobility support, claimants can receive up to £187 weekly, totalling £748 per month.

The PIP Handbook states that award length depends on the impact of the condition on daily life and independence. Most awards are regularly reviewed, but limited-term awards of up to two years without review may be given if improvement is expected.
