UK Set for Bank Holiday Mini-Heatwave with 28C Temperatures
Bank Holiday Mini-Heatwave: UK to Bake in 28C

The UK is bracing for a mini-heatwave just in time for the bank holiday weekend, with temperatures set to soar close to 30C. The Met Office has confirmed that conditions will be "very warm" over the holiday period, providing ideal weather for outdoor activities and family fun in the sun.

However, the sudden rise in temperatures may catch many off guard following a drab and wet couple of weeks that dampened spring. The mercury has been gradually increasing this week after an unseasonably cool spell. In the West Midlands, temperatures are forecast to hit 25C on Friday and Saturday, before climbing further to 28C on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, accompanied by blue skies and sunshine.

Heat Warnings and Cooler Nights

While many will welcome the warm weather, there are warnings to take care in the heat. Not everyone enjoys such conditions, and the stuffy nights could become uncomfortable. The heat is expected to ease slightly towards the end of next week, with a chance of showers, though temperatures will remain warm at around 22C.

Met Office Forecast

The Met Office forecast for Friday to Sunday states: "Very warm over the bank holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine and light winds. However, some heavy, thundery showers are possible on Saturday and some rain in the northwest." For Monday to Wednesday, the forecast adds: "Warm and dry for most on Bank Holiday Monday. Through the week, high pressure is expected to remain in place for much of the UK, meaning fine weather likely to continue for most places. Some patchy rain may affect the far north at times and perhaps a few showers in the far south. Temperatures are expected to be above normal, feeling very warm at times with light winds."

This prolonged warm spell marks the start of summer for many, with June just around the corner.
