Jet2 has announced a major expansion of its services from London Luton Airport, adding nearly 90,000 extra seats for Summer 2027. The airline is introducing five new routes to popular destinations in Spain, Greece, and Croatia, boosting total seat capacity to over 700,000.
New routes and increased capacity
The new routes include Malaga in Spain, Crete (Chania), Kefalonia, and Halkidiki in Greece, and Dubrovnik in Croatia. This expansion represents a 90,000-seat increase, supported by a fourth Jet2 aircraft being based at Luton from Summer 2027.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, said: “We are looking forward to a busy Summer 2027 season from London Luton Airport and are delighted to be announcing an expanded programme today with five new routes and additional capacity going on sale. Due to the continued demand from customers and independent travel agents for more choice and flexibility, we have once again responded with an even bigger and better programme for Summer 2027. This expansion further strengthens our presence and continued investment in London Luton Airport, and we look forward to a packed Summer 2027 programme, waving eager holidaymakers off on their well-deserved holidays.”
Impact on passengers
The move offers UK passengers greater flexibility and choice for summer holidays, with more seats available to popular sunshine destinations. The airline, which competes with Easyjet, TUI, and Ryanair, is responding to strong demand from both customers and travel agents.
Simon Harley, Interim Director of Aeronautical Revenue at London Luton Airport, commented: “We are delighted to see Jet2 launch these five exciting new routes to offer even greater choice for passengers. The confirmation that a fourth Jet2 aircraft will be based at London Luton Airport from Summer 2027 is also wonderful news. Whether it’s drinking in the coffee culture of Croatia or sangria in Spain, or exploring glistening Grecian seas, this enhanced capacity provides even greater flexibility and is a real show of commitment from Jet2 who have created huge excitement and demand since launching at LLA last year. We look forward to welcoming even more passengers through LLA in Summer 2027 to experience the simple, friendly and efficient airport experience as these new services to such sought-after sunshine destinations take to the skies.”
Background
Jet2 began operations from London Luton Airport last year and has since seen significant demand. The expanded programme for Summer 2027 includes over 700,000 seats on sale, with the new routes going on sale immediately. This announcement comes as the airline continues to strengthen its presence in the UK market, offering more choice for holidaymakers heading to the Mediterranean.
