Jet2 passengers can obtain extra cabin baggage allowance under two specific conditions, providing an additional 10kg bag at no extra cost. The tour operator ranks among the most generous airlines regarding luggage provisions. Travellers are permitted one large cabin bag weighing up to 10kg plus one small personal item which must fit beneath the seat.
Should your bag exceed size or weight restrictions, you could face a £45 charge per item at the airport to check it into the hold. Excess baggage is charged at £12 per kilogram. While these fees may seem reasonable, some complimentary additional allowance certainly would not hurt.
Those booking a Jet2 wedding receive an additional cabin bag at no extra cost. The airline's policy explains: "As part of your Jet2Weddings booking, you'll receive free Guaranteed Cabin Luggage, which means you can carry your wedding dress with you as hand luggage and be certain of keeping it with you. This would need to have a maximum weight of 10kg and be no larger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, including any wheels and handles."
Jet2 also permits certain passengers to bring an additional bag aboard, though this represents less of a workaround and more of a medical requirement. "Medical equipment can be brought onboard, in addition to your standard hand luggage allowance, but it must be no larger than 56 x 45 x 25cm, otherwise it will have to be placed in the hold," the Jet2 website states. "Small portable medical devices, such as CPAP machines, TENS machines, nebulisers, and portable dialysis machines, may be carried in addition to your standard hand luggage allowance as long as it's no larger than 56 x 45 x 25 cm and you have informed our Assisted Travel Team at least 48 hours before your flight."
"If you're carrying non-essential medical equipment that exceeds your hand luggage allowance, it'll be subject to our standard baggage policy and may need to be placed in the hold. For multiple medical devices or large medical equipment, please contact our Assisted Travel team at least 48 hours before your flight for further assistance and guidance."
In separate Jet2 developments, the carrier has issued an alert to passengers travelling to and from four sought-after destinations. On Monday, the airline stated: "We wanted to let you know about strike action, supported by ACC Roma, an Italian Air Traffic Control company, which is taking place from 09:00 to 17:00 (local time) on Monday 11th May 2026, which may cause delays to flights arriving and departing Rome, Naples, Pisa, and Venice."
Jet2 confirmed it is making every effort to "keep any disruption to a minimum". Passengers should be aware that check-in desks close 40 minutes prior to scheduled departure, and travellers are advised to reach the airport no later than two hours before their flight. The airline went on to say: "We will be working hard to ensure that the impact on our flights is minimal, however, you may encounter some disruption if you are travelling during this time. Please be prepared for possible longer than normal waits onboard your aircraft to depart. We will board all flights and close all gates for an on-time departure, this will allow us to depart as soon as we are advised we can. Please make sure your contact details are up to date in Manage My Booking, and if the situation changes, our team will be in touch."
