Passengers at Birmingham Airport can now enjoy McDonald's fast food after the global chain opened a new branch at the transport hub. The 50-seater restaurant, which officially opened on Wednesday, May 20, has created 100 full and part-time jobs for the local community.

Restaurant Features and Services

The new McDonald's offers dine-in, takeaway, Drive Thru, Click & Serve, and McDelivery services, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The restaurant boasts a new kitchen design and a dedicated courier waiting area, enabling crew to serve both delivery and in-store customers quickly and accurately.

Local Franchisee's Comments

Dean Chapman, the local McDonald’s Franchisee who now owns and operates 14 McDonald’s restaurants, expressed his delight at the opening. “We are delighted to be opening a brand-new McDonald’s restaurant at Birmingham Airport and we are looking forward to wishing a great journey for those heading off on their holidays or work trips, as well as those just returning hungry having missed their McDonald’s!” He added, “People are at the heart of our business, and we look forward to welcoming new employees with the jobs our restaurant will create. We’re committed to investing in opportunities for a mix of all ages, life stages and backgrounds, promoting flexibility and equality.”

Airport CEO's Remarks

Nick Barton, CEO of Birmingham Airport, commented on the opening: “It was great to officially open the brand-new McDonald’s on-site here at BHX. The new restaurant, conveniently located at the entrance to the airport, will be able to serve both our arriving and departing passengers and our local community.” He highlighted the sustainable design of the unit, which supports the airport’s net zero target and includes electric vehicle charging points. Barton concluded, “We wish Dean and the team all the best on the opening and look forward to working in partnership.”
