Police officers have issued a public appeal for information following a serious multi-vehicle collision on a Midlands road that resulted in two individuals being taken to hospital.
Collision Details and Emergency Response
The incident occurred at the Cellarhead crossroads in the Staffordshire Moorlands during the early hours of Monday morning, January 26. Staffordshire Police confirmed they were alerted to the scene at approximately 7.10am after receiving reports of a collision involving multiple vehicles.
According to official statements, a grey Ford Transit van and a grey Volkswagen Polo were directly involved in the crash. Additionally, a white Vauxhall Vivaro van that had broken down nearby prior to the incident also sustained damage during the collision.
Injuries and Hospitalisation
A man, who was driving one of the vehicles involved, required assistance from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to exit his vehicle. Both this man and a woman from another vehicle involved were subsequently transported to hospital by ambulance for medical assessment and treatment.
Police have confirmed that neither individual sustained life-threatening or life-changing injuries, though both required hospital attention following the impact.
Road Closure and Investigation
Officers remained at the scene for several hours to manage traffic and conduct preliminary investigations. The road was closed for a significant period while emergency services worked at the location and evidence was gathered.
Staffordshire Police have launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision and are particularly interested in obtaining any dashcam footage that may have captured the incident or events leading up to it.
