Global superstar Ed Sheeran has announced a significant shift in his career, revealing he intends to embark on just one more major world tour before prioritising family life during his children's school years.
A Father's Priority: School Years Over Touring
The 34-year-old 'Shape of You' hitmaker, one of the world's highest-earning touring artists, confessed his plans during an appearance on the Awards Chatter podcast. Sheeran, who shares daughters Lyra, five, and Jupiter, three, with his wife Cherry Seaborn, stated that being present for their formative school years is now a top priority.
He explained that he recently wrote a list of what matters most, which included his family, songwriting, and performing shows. His new goal is to find a sustainable model that allows him to balance all three while eliminating unnecessary 'noise' from his schedule.
The Ipswich Residency: A Homegrown Solution
In a move that would dramatically reduce his time away from home, Sheeran is seriously contemplating building a performance venue in his hometown of Ipswich. This innovative idea would allow him to undertake a long-term residency, performing for fans while remaining close to his family base.
"I looked into the idea of building a venue in my hometown and doing a residency there," Sheeran shared. "That then cuts out the travel and being away from my family. I've built a studio nearby that I can use. I feel that's the model you can adopt."
From Mathematics to The Loop and Beyond
This decision follows Sheeran's colossal Mathematics Tour, which comprised 188 shows across five continents and concluded in September of this year. He is currently on the road with The Loop Tour, which began on 1 December 2025 in Paris and is scheduled to run until 7 November 2026 in Tampa, USA.
However, after this current run concludes, Sheeran envisages only one final large-scale global trek. "I've got one more big tour in me before settling down for school years," he confirmed. "That's the model I think I want to adopt. I do feel like my life gets quite cluttered. I commit to lots of things and I end up doing quite a lot."
This announcement marks a pivotal moment for the singer-songwriter, signalling a conscious move from relentless international touring to a more rooted, family-centric chapter of his life and career, potentially centred around a permanent home-stage in Suffolk.
