Ian Tracey to perform at St James Church anniversary recital

A recital by the internationally renowned organist Professor Ian Tracey will be held at St James Church in New Brighton this month. The event, scheduled for Friday, June 19, is part of a series of celebrations marking the church's 170th anniversary this summer and aims to raise funds for its ongoing restoration.

About Professor Ian Tracey

Professor Tracey has served as the organist of Liverpool Cathedral since 1980 and is highly sought after worldwide. He has performed numerous recitals on the St James' organ, which itself holds national recognition, being Grade II* listed on the National Pipe Organ Register.

St James Church history and restoration

St James' Church is a cornerstone of New Brighton's history, with its construction funded by the town's founding fathers, including James Atherton and William Rowson. However, 170 years in an exposed coastal location have taken a toll on the building, which is currently undergoing a major restoration program.

Revd Heather Atkinson, the vicar of St James', expressed her delight: "We are thrilled to welcome Ian Tracey back as the highlight of our celebratory birthday events. We are grateful that his recital will support the fundraising efforts needed to keep our beautiful building serving the New Brighton community."
