Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts has announced the cancellation of her final week of West End performances due to a required medical procedure. The star, who is expecting her first child, has been instructed by doctors to rest.
Doctor's Orders Force Show Cancellation
Nicola Roberts, who revealed she was five months pregnant on Christmas Day 2025, shared the disappointing news with fans via social media on Friday. She explained that her doctor has advised she cannot complete her run in the musical Hadestown, where she plays the role of Persephone, due to the need for a 'small surgical procedure'.
The 40-year-old emphasised that 'everything is ok' but stated she must follow medical advice. She expressed heartbreak at not being able to perform her final shows and bid a proper farewell to the cast and audiences.
An Emotional Message to Fans
In her heartfelt post, Roberts wrote of her sadness and disappointment. 'I have adored playing the role of Persephone, it has been a dream come true,' she stated. She apologised directly to fans who had booked tickets and organised trips for her last week, calling the situation 'completely out of my control'.
The singer thanked everyone for their support and understanding during this time. She had been starring in the production for the previous five months.
Fans Rally with Support and Well-Wishes
Followers and fans immediately flooded the post with messages of love and support, prioritising the health of Roberts and her baby. One fan wrote, 'Nothing matters more than your health. Look after yourself!', while another echoed the sentiment, stating, 'Your health is the most important thing.'
Many praised her performance as Persephone and sent wishes for a speedy recovery. The overwhelming response highlighted the public's concern for the expecting star's wellbeing.
Roberts had originally announced her pregnancy in a joyful Instagram post on 25 December 2025. She shared a photo cradling her baby bump in front of a Christmas tree, alongside her fiancé, footballer Mitch Hahn. The couple expressed that they 'can't wait' to meet their baby in the spring of 2026.
This development means the singer will take an unplanned early leave from the acclaimed West End production to focus on her health during her pregnancy.
